What are they for?
Diamond Roll-Rings® replace slip rings in mission critical applications where long
life, maintenance-free, low electrical resistance, low torque and high shock tolerance are important performance requirements.
How do they work?
Diamond Roll-Rings® are rings of spring copper that roll between two conductive
races and transfer power, signals and data across that interface. The graphic at the

Where are they used?
Diamond Roll-Rings® are used in a wide variety of mission critical applications. The International Space Station has sixteen Roll-Ring® units in service. The US Navy uses Roll-Rings® for its SPS-48E Air Search Radar system. Nineteen countries use Roll-Rings® in Diamond Antenna Rotary Joints in Air Traffic Control radar systems. Mandus Group uses Roll-Rings® in their Hawkeye 105 mm Mobile Howitzer Weapon System. Roll-Rings® are used on the Patriot Missile System.
Will they work for my application?
Diamond Roll-Rings® can replace slip-rings in a great many applications but not all of them as Roll-Rings sometimes require more axial and radial space. Diamond Roll-Rings® are more expensive than slip rings but provide better value over the life of the application.
Diamond Roll-Rings® are custom designed only. There is no catalog of standard products. Mission critical applications always have unique specifications and the Engineers and Technicians at Diamond are adept at quickly converting specifications to quote and purchase order to product. Our record is five and a half weeks to deliver a custom Diamond Roll-Ring® device.
